cccSomewhereintheremoteregion,thewarends.Inthemidstofruinedcitiesandhousesinthestreets,inruralhamlets,everywherewherepeoplestilllive,arechildrenwhohavelosttheirhomesandparents.Abandoned,hungry,andinrags,defenselessandhumiliated,theywanderthroughtheworld.Hungerdrivesthem.Littlestreamsoforphansmergeintoariverwhichrushesforwardandsubmergeseverythinginitspath.Thechildrendonotknowanyfeeling;theyknowonlytheworldoftheirenemies.Theyfight,steal,struggleforamouthfuloffood,andviolenceismerelyameanstogetit.AgangledbyCahounfindsarefugeinanabandonedcastleandencountersanoldcomposerwhohasvoluntarilyretiredintosolitudefromaworldofhatred,treason,andcrime.Howcantheyfindacommonground,howcantheybecomemutualfriendsThecastlebecomestheirhidingplacebutpossiblyitwillalsobetheirfirsthomewhichtheymayorganizeandmustdefend.Butevenforthis,thepricewillbeveryhigh.  Tothissimplestory,thejournalist,writer,poet,scriptwriter,moviedirector,andfilmtheoreticianBélaBalázsappliedmanyyearsofexperience.HeandthedirectorGézaRadványicreatedaworkwhichopenedanewpostwarchapterinHungarianfilm.Surprisingly,thisfilmhasnotlostanyofitsimpactovertheyears,especiallyonaprofoundphilosophicallevel.Thatistosay,itisnotmerelyamovieaboutwar;itisnotimportantinwhatlocationandinwhatperiodoftimeittakesplace.Itisastoryoutsideoftimeaboutthejoylessfateofchildrenwhopaydearlyforthecruelwargamesofadults.
